Our Annual Parrot Head Fundraising
Party for the Alzheimer Community Care of Palm Beach, Martin & St. Lucie
Counties
is held in September or October every year ... Alzheimers is a devastating
disease that robs you of your recent memories ... the memory of new
friends & new places. We wanted our party to be a good time with PHriends
& ultimately be a LASTING Memory for those came to party with a purpose.
Memory
Night seemed to be the perfect name for our Annual Parrot Head
Fundraising Party for the Alzheimer Community Care of Palm Beach & Martin
County.
We picked Alzheimer's as our recipient of our big
fundraising party because it is a charity near & dear to Jimmy's Heart
.... His dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1995. Seeing his father fall
to this disease inspired Jimmy to write a song about his dad & Alzheimers.
The song is called False Echoes & is on his Banana Wind CD. The club was
formed in 1996 & the Parrot head ties that binds us, pulled at the heart
strings of the founding members of the club ... for it could be our
fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, PHriends or even ourselves that could
develop Alzheimer's. The National Alzheimer's organization is hard at work
trying to find a cure but what about those who have it now ... like
Jimmy's dad or your dad or mine? We then decided to pick the Alzheimer's
Community Care of Palm Beach, Martin and St Lucie Counties because it is a
local charity ... All the money we raise after expenses stays here locally
to help fund the 3 counties 9 Day Care Centers. That's why we are the
Parrot Heads FOR the Palm Beaches - And in September of 1996, Memory Night
was hatched!
